I have the firewall that came with my windows xp. I want a better one. What is a VERY good firewall i can download and use for free that dosen't slow down my computer

The best fire wall out there is called Zone Alarm and its for free and its very powerful AND WONT SLOW YOUR PC DOWN.

There isn't many 'good' FireWall's you can just download, but there are plenty of good ones you can buy. There are some very good FireWall's that are only around $15.99 - $29.99 that are top notch. Plus, most FireWalls you download for free off of the Internet can damage your computers software and hard-drive. Go to your local Comp. USA store or any other computer store and ask the clerk. Firewall is just a policy (like SELINUX policy) that restricts outsiders from other network to get access to your machine. It also manages outgoing connections from different softwares aswell.
If you are in need of better security , then use Kaspersky AntiHacker, by which you can control the restriction level and signal encryption and full time check which reports any unauthorized incoming signal.

the one that XP has is just good so i think u don't need a better firewall
but if u still want one anyway, I'd recommend McAfee firewall

Zone Alarm is very flexible and is highly recommended freeware.
Make sure to check the freeware version option when it installs because they also offer the Pro version which is not freeware.

I use COMODO. Its free to download and the license is free.
It works great and doesnt take up too much space!! I love it! Go to www.snapfiles.com and look for it under "Freeware"
If you dont believe me read the user ratings and comments for the program.

personal experience. look up on www.download.com for "Zone Alarm" and get the free version. there you go buddy. free, flexable, and uses very little cpu and ram
