My tailpipe is loose on my muffler. How can I fix it without buying a whole new set-up for $275? I tried muffler mender around the base of the tailpipe and the muffler but that did not work. It kind of rattled itself off.

Try spending 3.99 for a muffler clamp. Measure the size of the outlet pipe from the muffler and buy the appropriate clamp. These clamps can be tightened to withstand the vibration of the exhaust system. The only problem would be if the outlet pipe from the muffler is what came loose. Then you need a muffler. You can buy just the muffler for under 50 bucks and install it your self. Also make sure the tail pipe hangers are attached to prevent the rattling off.

Easy thing to do would be to cut the muffler off the tailpipe( if thats what has rusted off then great ). Get a muffler clamp and go buy a new muffler.

You can get a universal muffler for any vehicle which only cost about 25 US dollars.

get it welded. he to be a quite good welder though. the only thing is chances are your exhaust is corroded all the way along, so if you intend to keep the car a while get the new one. stay with the old one and it will keep giving trouble exhaust last so long then they keep breaking

something like a dryer clamp...one of the metal rings that closes as you tighten the screw or you could always weld it
