Well, where to begin

Wilco-Probably the best band making music today. Their sound has varied with each new record. I believe anyone who likes rock can enjoy at least one of their records although Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the best album of the current decade, hands-down.

Kings of Leon-Odds on favorite to be the next legends of American rock...The Strokes of the South. Aha, Shake, Heartbreak is classic balls-to-the-wall rock.

Yo La Tengo-Smoothest band I've ever heard. I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One is their best.

Pavement-Probably the hardest band to like on this list. This may be blasphemous to some, but BEST 90's BAND ever. Great, classically-influenced rock. Their first two albums are in Pitchfork media's top ten of that decade.

Classic acts that you probably already know about, The Stones, The Clash, and the one band that had the most influence on all the aforementioned acts,The Velvet Underground

What kind of music do you like? Your idea of great music and mine might be completely different.

My list of GREAT music:

Social Distortion, especially the "Mommy's Little Monster" and "Sex, Love and Rock and Roll" CD's

Supersuckers, pretty much anything)

Tiger Army, especially the "Power of Moonlight" CD

Bauhaus, pretty much anything

The Pogues, but they are much better on the stuff with Shane MacGowan
