I believe love is a special feeling that represents many different things. The love I have for my best friend is very different than the love I have for my boyfriend.
If we are talking about love for your lifemate then I would have to describe it as indescribable. Nothing, for me at least, truly captures the way I feel about him or the way I feel when I am around him. Each term would seem trivial or a small part and maybe even cliche.
It is an overwhelming sensation that occurs whenever I see my boyfriend or when I hear the concern in his voice. It tells me that someone out there will always be there for me.

Love is some kind of bond between two spirits. When you die, those you love will all carry your soul out it's life into some other realm of safety away from the pains of life.

i think there is a direct corelation between love and sacrifice. how much you love someone or something is reflective of how much you are willing to do or give up for them...
