Both versions of vista will initially have problems with drivers so don't worry about that.

As far as I am aware both versions of vista will be bundled together (except the basic version its only 32 bit). It should detect the 64 bit processor and install the relevent version.

The problem with 64 bit drivers is more relevent to XP pro 64 bit.

Looks like your PC should be compatible with vista, not sure about the graphics card though. Microsift have a tool you can download that will scan your PC http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upgradeadvisor/default.mspx

Don't be in a hurry to upgrade to Windows Vista yet.
I would wait at least 6 months for Micro$oft to get the bugs out before upgrading.
Yes you're system will be able to run 64Bit Vista with no problems.

I, myself have a computer that's 3 years old which is Windows Vista 64bit compatible but I'm going to wait until Microsoft and all the hardware manufactures get the bugs out of their drivers before I upgrade.
It gets really annoying with constant crashes or look ups due to Microsoft or the driver manufacture not supplying you with stable drivers.

Allthough windows Vista 64 bit Edition is ready for use, 80% of the third party softwares that we use regularly are yet to get developed. And 64 bit data handling is different, so the drivers for 64 bit are already released but yet to perfect. Wait around , don't shift yet. Vista still have lots of flaws ad bugs and got a ot of fixing to do. Stick with XP, move to Vista after atleast 4 months.

it should work very well with windows 64 bits if the 64 bit drivers for your hardwareare out along with vista. microsoft says that in order for hardware to pass the windows logo test manufacturers must provide 32 bit drivers along with 64 bit drivers
