Never heard of the hotel, but Van Ness is not far from downtown San Francisco. There is a lot to do downtown, day and night. You can visit Castro, Westfield Shopping Centre (newly opened) on Market St and a lot more on Market and Mission St. but be careful..have fun! Muni buses are the best public transportation to get around the city..better than taxis

Cathedral Hill is ok. It is a few blocks from City Hall.
BART and Muni connect mainly on Market St and you will be staying about 15 minutes by foot from the stations. A taxi ride from there will be about $10 to go to Haight Street.

There are lots of funky clubs on Polk St and that is only a few blocks away.

For a fun experience try Tommy's Joynt. It is only about a block from your hotel and kinda fun. Enjoy!

There's lots to do in SF. You can go to Columbus street and you will find tons of good restaurants and bars to hang out. For the ultimate shopping experience hit Union Square where you will find the new Westfield mall and you can shop til you drop. Almost anyshop you need you can find in Union Square. Hit Fisherman's Wharf for some good ol' clam chowder and the famous Ghirardelli Square. You can take a nice cable car ride from Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. Have fun!!
