The one my dad says to me: "Who rattled your cage?"

Meaning - who asked for your opinion. Makes me sound like a blooming parrot!! Always give back as good as I get though!

when you ask some one to choose between 2 things and they say " six and one half or a dozen of the other"...Meaning to them it doesn't matter which one is chosen it's all the same to them. But......here's the problem with that statement.." If you have 6 and one half of something or a dozen of the other...THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!!!! Key word being used....a dozen of the OTHER..... this expression has always bothered me. Something cant be the same if it's a completely different than the other.. WOW!!! glad to get that off my chest. lol, Thanks !!!

the two sayings that really bug me are -
gobsmacked when stuck for words
pearshaped when things go wrong,, because I have a pear-shaped body and don't want my shape to be associated with things going wrong. Even if I lost weight (which I need to) I'd still be this basic shape.

"The exception that proves the rule" No it doesn't, if there is an exception then IT IS NOT A RULE.

Actually I know it comes from when 'to prove' meant 'to test'. So because of its use in court it came to mean showing something to be true but still....

"If it's meant to be" or " Your destiny and if it's fate" makes it seem as if you have no control at all over your decisions in life. What is the use of having a brain then to think with.....lol

"It's all good!"

I assure you many things may be good in the end, but when I am going through them I do not care to be reminded of the fact by a euphemistically optimistic well-wisher.

I prefer "It's all going to burn." ; )
