♥ ♥condoms protect you from STD's ♥ ♥

There are lots of ways to answer that. The pill cannot prevent STDs (as you may have guessed by the other responses) but there are factors that can effect a pill's ability to prevent pregnancy. With a perfect dose and perfect administration of the pill (taking it at exactly the same time every day) the failure rate of most pills is about 0.1%. If the woman is a big woman, the dose may not be high enough to prevent release of an egg (pills come with a one-size-fits-all dose but no one should attempt to change that by taking more than the prescribed number because there are other risks like blood clots and cancer). Most women have trouble taking the pill correctly for the first few months and then do really well for the next year but have trouble again after that.
Condoms are a good way to prevent disease transmission but they are not perfect either. Many diseases can be transmitted even with perfect condom use (HPV being the most common).
Choosing to have sex with someone is one of the most important decisions you will ever make (though MTV would have you believe otherwise). You are deciding about the risk of permanent and deadly diseases, you are deciding about the lives of you, your partner and any children created. You should not make any decision because God wants you to be married, or because your Fifth-Grade-Sex-Ed Teacher scared you, or because is seems exciting and adventurous, this decision needs serious consideration. THERE IS NO SAFE SEX!!!! When you choose to have sex you are ALWAYS choosing to expose yourself to the potential of disease and you are ALWAYS choosing to be a parent. If a child is created, you are responsible for that child's well-being and for the home that he/she will be born into. Asking this question is good because you are starting to think responsibly but if you have sex, you are choosing to face disease and parenthood. Please think of yourself, your partner and your someday children when choosing.
Your local Planned Parenthood can give you lots more specific information and it would be anonymous much like Yahoo! Answers.
Best wishes

Yes unless in a very stable long term relationship as the pill does not stop stds...

Also remember stds dont just transfer vai sex, its any mixing of blood say in sports from wounds or say first aid. Or splashes in eyes can transfer.

Also always a good idea in anything to have a back up...

ie the pill backs up the condoms and the condoms backs up the pill.

Also the pill is not so good as it does not factor the idiot factor.

ie you forgot your pill, you slept in and took it late, vometed, took some medicine ie st johns wort or others, or 'alternatives to alcohol'

A patch for a week or better still a 3 monthly injection or several years of implants is better for these reasons.

Likewise condoms are not 100% reliable and again you can mess it up ir sharp nails, rings, you took it off, got sperm on fingers then as lasted all of 30 seconds decided to finger you girlfriend till she came transfering the semin from fingers to insider her in the process, or it came off or burtst...

Using both if far safer...

Its what most dutch do and er low pregnancy rate there, very low.

oh and I take it by 2 you mean 2 as if you actually use 2 condoms they will break

If you are not in a stable committed relationship then the answer is yes. If you think your partner has, or may be cheating on you then the answer is yes. If you sleep around for recreation then the answer is yes. Condoms can help to prevent transmission of some STD's. They are not a for sure thing though. The best thing is to not sleep around.

NO. YOU NEVER USE 2 condoms! Only 1. If you use two, they will rub together and break! I was on the pill and became pregnant, so one condom might help your chances low of getting pregnant- although it can still happen. We didn't use a condom. Anyways, do not use 2 condoms at one time!

The pill only stops you from contracting the worse sexual disease in the world "Parenthood!"

All other sexual diseases are controled by condoms or other barrier methods. Syphalis and most other STD's are on the rise because people think they're safe because they're on the pill. Take care!

In terms of avoiding pregnancy, then no you don't. The pill is very reliable.
Of course, there are other issues of STDs, but if you are confident about your partner, then condoms are not necessary.

Yes the pill doesn't prevent STDs. They are also not 100% effective.

only use them if you want to prevent stds like aids chlamydia herpes genital warts

and the pill isn't 100% effective, so if you double up and use condom while taking the pill its improves your odds of not getting pregnant
