Kind of a trick question and answer. The AMG and others like it probably like the the octane. The oil industry on the other hand have seasonally blended fuel to met their EPA guidelines that can cause more trouble than its worth. Try the regular with a bottle of manufacturers injector cleaner every 1500 miles or so.

Hi Super Unleaded will not cause any damage to your car. It should run a tiny bit better & have a tiny bit more power, & be a tiny bit better on fuel, so gains all round, plus it costs less, which is a bit of a strange one, it costs more here in sunny England! Some cars actually run better on a 50/50 mix of regular & super. I used to have a Vauxhall Nova which did. Very best regards Geordie

Do NOT use regular unleaded if your manufacturer states otherwise. The few dollars extra you spend on super will pale in comparison to the thousands and thousands you will spend if you drop a valve and grenade your engine. High performance engines are 'tuned' to use higher octane fuel. Using regular could cause serious damage to valves, pistons and connecting rods.

Yes you can damage the engine if you use a lower octane rating than the engine was designed to run on. You can also ruin the catalytic converter. If nothing else you will get lower gas mileage because the engine won't run as efficiently, negating any savings from cheaper gas.
So in short, you bought a hyper-expensive penile extension to impress the girls with. Now you have to live with that mistake. Don't cheap-out on the gas.

If you spent the $$$ for the Benz, buy the right freakin' fuel for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I put super in my ML320 and don't complain. If you cant afford the gas, you can't afford the car.
Yes, long term, it can hurt your engine. Read the owner's manual. It will tell you to use the super. If you can't find the super, get only as much regular as you need to get to the super, and drive there slowly, avoiding rapid acceleration and steep hills.

Yes, use the rated octane level recommended by the manufacturer. The octane rating tells you the amount of compression the fuel can withstand without combustion. If you use a fuel with a lower octane rating than is recommended, the engine will knock, which is combustion of the air/fuel mixture before top dead center of the piston's stroke.

Yeah it wil not be good for it. I have a 911, and it wants super too, and I asked the dealer who is a very good friend, and he said, yeah it will not be good, because the gas starts to get caught up in the injectors or whatever.

Yes it is necessary! I had a boss who's son bought a Nissan Maxima and did not heed this warning and fried the valves and seals. Expensive lesson.
