For a newborn, I love Pampers Swaddlers. They are so soft and gentle on a newborn skin. They are slightly more expensive, but I wouldn't use anything else for the first 3 months. Then, get what works for your baby. It's weird the way some brands seemed to repel my boy's urine, and others absorbed. I like Luvs and Pampers the best for older babies. Best of luck to you!

I should add that Pampers has a reward program going that you can get toys for your kid if you enter the diaper code into the computer. We're saving our points to get a free $75 lego castle. check it out at www.pampers.com

Pampers are the best!! I used Pampers Swaddlers for my newborn but she has now grown into the Pampers Crusiers. They are great. There is another type of pampers but the swaddlers and then the cruisers are the best. This is my 4th child. All the other kids got rashes when they used Huggies. I don't like Luvs because they don't have any stretch around the babies belly - kind of like putting a belt on your baby. Definatley love the Pampers! I have 4 kids, was a nanny for 6 yrs before that, worked in a daycare for a year before that and have babysat for the last 20+ yrs. I've used lots and lots of diapers! As far as wet wipes though - I recommend Huggies for that - pampers brand are very thin, huggies are thicker.
Congrats on your upcoming baby! Good Luck!

I have a 5 month old and for NB diapers I used Pampers. Pampers are what the hospitals use. But once she was in the 1 and 2 diapers then I switched to Huggies. Huggies fit better once she was older but Pampers when she was itty bitty....Maybe order some pampers and go to the different diaper websites and ask for free samples and try them on your baby to see what fits best then go from there. You will be getting samples at the hospital and in the mail.

PAMPERS BABY DRYYY!!!! all the way.. I did not like the pampers swaddlers though i had a son and the urine would leak out of the ttop that tthey have cut down for the umbelical cord. I tried huggies but they tended to give my son a rash. If your looking for somthing a little cheaper i would go with loves they are not bad. But dont ever buy the srote Genric brands. I truly belive that in diapers you get what you pay for. I am pregnent with my second now and i already have a closet full of pampers baby dry.

it all depends on the baby. My sister swears by huggies for her baby, but my little girl leaks out of them. i love pampers and my sister swears that they give her baby diaper rash.there are also luvs. so, definately be open minded and if one doesn't seem to be working try the other. but me personally, i like pampers. but before you spend alot on buying diapers remember that you don't know what size your baby will come out wearing. so if you want to make sure that you have the diaper thing squared away, mrybe you could do what i did, instead of actually buying the diapers and stockpiling i bought a gift card in the amount of a pack of diapers. not only does it ensure the right size, it saves on space too!~

I am pregnant with my 6th baby and believe me when I tell you I have tried every brand available!!

For a new born I would def. recommend Pampers with the notch cut out for the belly button. With our first few children we had to do the "rolling down the top of the diaper" method and this invention is excellent!

As the baby gets older and starts eating more solid foods and their "poopies" aren't so runny, we switch over to cheaper diapers like Luvs or Sam's Club brand.

I HATE huggies.

Hope that helps,
Mom of 5 with another on the way

I would try them all! My best friend could only use Huggies with her baby but my son leaked thru Huggies and could only use pampers. Luvs is really good and has that No Leak grantee. Also Swadlers is the pampers newborn size, but really in the end it is up to you and your family and what your budget will allow.

Pampers worked the best for my kids. Luvs gave them rashes, and Huggies leaked a lot even with frequent changing.

When I had my first daughter I always bought Huggies Supreme, but after a while I tried Pampers Cruisers. I thinks Pampers are the best

I would say Pampers or Luvs-are cheaper I use huggies on my daughter b/c she can't use any other brand she breaks out with any other brand. I like Pampers just watch your baby b/c her or she might break out with a certain brand. Good Luck and Congrats
