Genotype is applied to designate the totality of our genes present in each of our cells.

The Genotype of an organism referes to the configuration of the DNA. For example if a mother has two copies or allels for a given gene, lets say H for dominant and h for recessive and the father has the alleles HH. Then the genotype of the offspring for this specific gene will either be HH or Hh.

Hope that helps

Genotype refers to the genetic make-up of an organism or a virus. There are at least six distinct HCV genotypes identified. Genotype 1 is the most common genotype seen in the U.S. HCV is an RNA virus related to the flavivirus family. RNA viruses are genetically less stable than DNA viruses and are prone to mutate during replication. It’s a common misconception that hepatitis C is just one virus, but in reality (as a result of mutation over hundreds of years), it’s a group of very closely related strains. They are similar enough to be called HCV, but based on genetic differences, they can be classified into distinct groups called genotypes.

A genotype is the genetic makeup of an organism. For instance, what your genetic code is for your eye color. Phenotype is what is actually observed. Phenotypes are the results of genotypes. So if your genes that express eye color are coded for blue and brown, your genotype is one gene for blue and one gene for brown. Your phenotype is what we see, which would be brown in this instance since blue eyes are a recessive trait.
