Ok, so my best friend, her boyfriend and me were just in the car driving back to drop me off, my friend's bf was driving and he went through a red light. He got caught by the police and we got pulled over where he got really upset because if he got the points he will definetly lose his licence because of troubles he has already. He was really upset but they gave him the 3 points anyway. Now he and my friend are appealing the points on the fact that the light was amber when he went threw it and because I was in the car I have to go to court and say so too. But I know that the light was red. I really don't want to lie but I don't want to lose my friend. Also if I do tell the truth then she'll get into trouble too for lying. I know the obvious answer is just tell the truth but put yourself in my shoes, I don't want to upset anyone, no one got hurt right? Please help, I can't lie in court but I can't lose my friend

First of all hunny, she is not your friend for putting you in this situation, if she really was your friend she would know better than to not even get you involved.
Do not lie to the court, there not stupid they have ways of checking and knowing when there is a lie so just do the smart thing and say the truth...if they decide to not ever speak to you again so be it! A true Friend would never put you in such a hard situation...trust me!

I am sure you can find so many other friends...

I think you need to tell the truth in court. If this best friend is as true of a friend as you claim her to be then she will understand that you were forced to tell the truth and won't get mad at you. You can get in trouble for lying during court too. If I were in your shoes, I'd rather lose a friend then end in up in SERIOUS trouble for lying to a judge.
NEVER feel pressure to do what somebody expects you do. You are your own person.

All the best!

PERJURY IS AN OFFENSE AND THE FINES ARE HEFTY INCLUDING OTHER CHARGES THEY COULD SLAP ON YOU.
IF SHE IS YOUR TRUE FRIEND, YOU HAVE TO TELL HER YOU ARE GOING TO TELL THE TRUTH, SO SHE HAD BETTER CHANGE HER STORY ALSO.
DO NOT BE THREATENED OR COERSED INTO LYING.
IF HER BF DROPS HER, THEN HE IS WRONG.
HE WAS IN THE WRONG AND BY DOING WHAT HE DID, HE ENDANGERED YOUR LIFE ALSO, SO DON'T FORGET THAT.
IF SHE DROPS YOU AS A FRIEND, THEN SO BE IT.
YOU NEVER COMPROMISE YOUR MORALS THAT TELL YOU RIGHT FROM WRONG FOR ANYONE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE DEALING WITH THE LAW.
WHAT DO YOU WANT A FRIEND OR A CRIMINAL RECORD?
DO THE CRIME PAY WITH TIME......
THIS IS A HARD LESSON TO LEARN, BUT YOU ARE BEING TESTED.... DO NOT LIE....

You are going to have to put yourself first this time. Do you think that he would lie for you and risk getting in trouble?
