I had fractured my collar bone and it turned into a break. It took a month or more to heal and I didn't have any access pain during the healing that over the counter pain killers didn't take away. I had to wear a special harness do to the fact that you can't put a cast on it and this was uncomfortable. I worried that later when weather changed I would have pain in the area, but even though it never mended properly I never even notice it anymore. It actually is now stronger than before because of the extra calcium (drank a lot of milk shakes etc) and bone that grew in the area of the break.

I presently have the equal damage. I broke it on a punching bag without a gloves on. My revel in has been a ot one of a kind than yours, nevertheless. I noticed a hand expert, and he encouraged, with a view to be certain the bone heals properly without a long term disorders, that I have surgical procedure to situation two pins in to keep the bone in situation till it heals. It has been four weeks given that I broke the bone and had surgical procedure, and the pins pop out subsequent week. I have a HARD solid on my hand. Although your holiday maybe one of a kind and not more extreme than mine, I could suppose you could no less than want a rough solid to preserve the hand immobilized at the same time it healed. I could propose you get a moment opinion, notably from a hand expert if you'll be able to. Looking even though your mobile guide, or asking your present medical professional for a referral to a hand expert simply to be definite could be a well concept. You do not desire to remorse this 50 years from now whilst you cannot decide upon up your grandchildren due to the fact of a dull bone holiday that did not heal correctly.

PDK is right - the Dr. has seen the x-ray and will know best. In general bones heal in 6-8 weeks. If you move it around a lot it can take much longer. Usually Tylenol or aspirin is used for pain management.
I do believe that a collarbone is easier to break again once it has been broken. I would not bet on it though.
btw - I am an EMT.

My brother broke his collar bone when I was a kid, it took almost four to five months for it to heal completely. But he also refused to sit still, relax, and take his vitamins like D and calcium. Usually after a bone breaks the area that has fused together is stronger then the areas that remain in tact. However, only your doctor knows the true nature of the break and wether or nt the bone will remain fragile after it has healed.
