Distance from Earth to Moon = 380,000 km
Distance from Earth to Sun = 150 million km (1 au)
So when moon is on "dark" side of Earth you could say the distance between sun and moon is 150 380 000 km, when it is on the "light"side it would be 149 520 000 km.
150 million is near enough! (Which as Gary rightly said is i Astronomical unit AU)

It varies somewhat but I figure with a new moon it goes from about three feet to about five feet. Depending on the time of day of course. and the rest of the time it's probably at least twice or three times that far.
