I saw an interview with Dakota Fanning. She said that all of the animals were real.

Yes. They also had some computer generated and animatronics in the movie. Templeton the rat had more support of the special effects but still used as real animal.

I think they have used real animals but also a lot of computer graphics

the movie looked real. we have Babe on dvd and I think some of those are robots.
