Dr. told me to start taking fish oil pill containing Omega 3 - to help lower my chloesteral and triglyceride levels.

I purchased Nature's Bounty Fish Oil w/ Omega-3 & Vitamin E. Is this good, or is there a better product for me to consider?

Carlson's is one of the best brands I know of. You should take their cod liver oil in the winter months and then switch to regular fish oil (krill is excellent) during summer months. While fish oil is good for the heart, cholesterol is a whole other ballgame -- especially since tons of evidence exists to support the fact that high cholesterol does not cause heart disease (do a general Google search and you will find loads of information). The only way cholesterol is implicated in heart disease is if your arteries are scarred (from too much trans fat, for one) -- it is then that the cholesterol can stick and clog your arteries. Otherwise, it just flows on through Many people have had levels over 600 with no heart problems (due to healthy arteries).

I am a bit nutty about the benefits of the Omega-3s found in fish oil. I have done a great deal of research on the different brands available online and I can't find a better value than PharmaOmega Life. The purity is great, the concentration is very high and you get the most for your money. Check them out at www.pharmaomega.com. If you want to discuss Omega-3s, I'll be glad to share more of what I have learned.

These are some good things to supplement. I don't understand the 1080 mg fish oil. I take 4 grams. These are good but try to eat more fibers, especially oatmeal, fruits, vegetables as they also can lower the cholesterol levels.Try this before taking statins, like Liptor. Exercise three times a week. Also red rice bran yeast can help. Good luck.
