I take online classes. I like the fact that its all self paced so i can go as fast or slow as i want. I think that it helps if you are a self motivated person to want to Finnish up the class ahead of time. I don't like sitting through lectures. I don't like spending all that time bored while other dumb people waste my money with stupid questions and whining about this and that. I get to spend more time at home with my wife that's always good!! There are some cons. If you don't get some concepts its nearly impossible to have someone explain to you what is going on. Testing for finals is hard. Allot of professors don't give you study guides or information on the final. They are like just study all the chapters. Which is hard to know sometimes what to focus on. You can't negotiate whats going to be on the test and what not. It's allot more reading also you spend more time reading than you would in a traditional class. I would suggest for classes that you think you might be strong in to do online courses. When it comes to classes that you think you might be weak in I would see if your college can have you take then face to face. If i had a choice i would never step into another classroom again.

The good thing is that you can work full or part time or fulfill family obligations while you learn/earn your degree. The downside is: self discipline - many people lack the stick to it-ivness required to put your seat in the chair and study when there is no outside authority or structure telling you when to do it. Make sure you schedule time and stick to it even tho you will find other things to do and think "oh, I can work on my course later" - this will catch up to you detrimentally. Another hardship can be when you take a subject where you really need help or need to be 'shown' something rather than just talking to a tutor over the phone. I am thinking for example of math, or chem. good luck to you, I hope you pull it off. You will gain a lot of self esteem and self respect with each course you take. Do it!!

The big Pro is easy access.

The big con is that no one will respect your degree and you will find it hard to get a job.

Are you aware that University of Phoenix just paid a $9.8 million fine for shady practices and is now under investigation for inflating their placement numbers? Even if there are on-line universities that are above board, they will be hurt by U of P's actions.

It is difficult to devote yourself to lessons without a suitable learning environment, namely, a class, friends, cold desks,... I mean the atmosphere..
