Of course they are jealous, and it is a stupid tradition that carries on. I think if blondes gave less of knee jerk reactions to the types that seek the reactions, the jokes would subside some. It is the exact fact that so many are smart, that they are appalled at the comment, and thus the reaction. Just smile, and walk away, and be happy you are more intelligent than they are, most likely. Most people that put down women like that, are not too rich in the brains department.

Well that generally comes from the Marilyn Monroe era, in her movies she was never betrayed as. . . .intelligent. Marilyn was the ultimate blonde bombshell and her image created that stereotype about blondes. It was further perpetuated later in movies where the blonde girl is the beauty and the brunette is the brains. I understand what you are going through, I'm black and people automatically assume that I have children (I have none), I'm uneducated (2 yrs 'til I finish my bachelors), they assume my family is uneducated and poor ( we are upper middle class and no has less than a bachelors degree in the last 4 generations). But the media portrays my race and sex as the absolute opposite. Don't pay it any attention.

Though that's not true, it's just that the typical blonde is a girl who wears heels, drives a nice car, and basically lives the fab life. Therefore, she doesn't need intelligence to survive. This perception of blondes is wrong, but that's just America honey.

Because traditionally cultures tend to hold blonde as more beautiful, and beautiful girls can better get through life without being educated.
Then you have stereotypes established by movies (because using visual stereotypes allows the film-maker's to bypass some character development) furthering the stupid blonde idea.
And then there's Paris Hilton...

Sure it is just a stereotype, but it refers to people who have gotten by in life on their looks not their effort, passing classes because they are "cute", getting hired at jobs for the same reason.
i.e Jessica Simpson (but she does have a nice singing voice)

It's a stereotype. I hate stereotypes. I don't know how they got started or why, but I find them very irritating.
How someones hair color could be any indication of their intellect is beyond me.
