Especially since Tracy is back, the team is doing pretty good. Does that mean the team doesn't need Yao Ming and he is tradable?

No, the Houston Rockets can not get to the Playoffs without Yao Ming.
Yao Ming is a huge interior presence for the Rockets, and they will have a lot of trouble if Yao isn't there. He gives them both points and blocks, and plays hard; not something a lot of centers can claim. Without Yao, McGrady and the rest of the mediocre Houston offence will be forced to take more and more outside shots instead of going with the easy inside shot.
Yao Ming is much more valuable to the Rockets than what is believed, and Houston would have unbelieveable trouble in making the playoffs should he not be there.

The Rockets can without a doubt make the playoffs with Yao Ming...possibly as a 5 seed. However, they will never trade Yao because without him the Rockets are only a team that can make it to the playoffs but never get anywhere once they're in. With Yao they have a legit inside presence which makes the Rockets a very hard team to guard because you can't necessarily double team him when he can kick it out to McGrady, Alston, Head, or Battier to hit a 3 which are momentum killers. As long as Tracy McGrady is in Houston Yao will be there to. With Yao...the Rockets are serious championship contenders

They most certainly will make the playoffs. I believe the rockets are better even without yao then new orleans, pheonix, and Denver. I think they will end up as a 3 4 or 5. If they are 3 they will probably play either dallas or pheonix. they can win anyone of those series. If there a 4 or 5 they 'll probably play Utah. I dont like there chances agains utah. I like houston as the three seed because right now they are 2 games ahead of utah who sits at 4 and new orleans is dropping houston is one game away from new orleans. Once they pass NO they will the three

The Rockets need Yao Ming because he was dominating the league before he got hurt. It would be stupid to trade him.

THEY CAN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS BUT WITHOUT YAO THEY WILL LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND.
