I want to upgrade cpu and mobo but dont want to shell out for new memory. Want a dual core cpu but wondering if the new boards can use my PC2700 DDR 2 gigs of memory. The Intel DG965RYCK Intel Socket 775 uses Dual Channel 240-pin DDR2 with a total capacity of up to 4GB. You can install DDR 533/667MHz memory it says. So can I use my old ram sticks with this? Here is the motherboard link :

NO YOU CANNOT , you said you have DDR memory. The board you are looking at only accepts DDR2 memory. It won't fit

if you want Core 2 Duo on the cheap , which will let you use AGP & DDR check this board out: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=18719&vpn=775Dual-VSTA&manufacture=ASRock

It has 2 slots for DDR memory like yours (Supports DDR400/333/266 )
and 2 slots for DDR2 memory for when you upgrade.
