I have a large surface to varnish and need to get all the dust off but my small comercial tact rags don't seem to cover much area so I want to make my own. What is a good recipe?

I like the painters suggestion of using varnish but I wonder if it would not be too thick. I've always just taken a rag with thinner to get up the dust. I think next time I'll use some varnish thinned with thinner. I'll be able to keep this in a separate container and dip and squeeze out the excess. It might work better.

Commericial rags are a real ripoff.

Dip a part of a rag into the varnish. Use as tack rag. Don't dip anymore after the first time, as you will get dust in the varnish. Use a clean brush or applicator to add more. Good luck.

Soak your rag in linseed oil - wring it as dry as possible by hand and GO.
