Now that Saddam is dead, I definately think President Bush should use this opportunity to wind things down in Iraq and bring our troops home.
I initially supported the war in Iraq based on the belief that Saddam had WMD's and may use them on us. However, since none were found and Saddam is out of power - lets move on and let Iraq have their civil war, (probably a necessary evil).
We have done all we can, and should be proud of what we accomplished. But it is time to come home now.

I think it's a good idea to send more and then set a time table for a pull out. The war won't end with the U.S. pulling out. It will just cause an all out civil war. While the troops are there the region is stabilized, and more troops will help prevent more attacks until the Iraq army and police force is strong enough to control it's own country. So in affect more troops would help prevent more U.S. casualties. I didn't agree with the decision to invade Iraq, but I don't feel it's right for the U.S. to destroy it's infrastructure than leave before it's secure. A lot more innocent people will be murdered.

Its is uncalled for. Sadam is dead, time to bring our troops home. We are not ever going to have peace in Iraq. The war probably will not end until 2008 when evil BUSH is out of office!

It is not uncalled for as people in America love starting things but hate to finish. By sending more troops to iraq we are helping finish what we started. Thats as simple of an explination as I can go but think about this. War in Africa has been raging for years and all the talking and humanitarian aid has done NOTHING. More has been done in Iraq the past few years than the past few decades in America.

More troops are good...if you use them right...I`m curious to see how they will be used...If the plan in Iraq remains the same, it is a very bad decision. America needs to be able to fight a war like it did in the 1940`s. If you wont let them destroy the enemy, don`t send them at all...The left has ruined America`s war machine and many are proud of that. Sad thing is, wars will never go away. They will always present themselves. That is a fact. However it is that we get into war, right or wrong, our troops need to be able to go in and take care of things...I wonder if we can ever be allowed (by the civil servants calling the shots at home), to ever win another war.

necessary or not necessary --it is up to the legislators to decide. this is not an easy question to answer by the layman -- we can put our feelings on line but we can not ignore the facts. and most of the facts we do not know -- it is up to the top general of the army to give his personal advice to the president and the line of communication down the line. that is their duty and responsibility. at present, as we all know -- the fact of sending new troops is in limbo and there will be new announcement on Wednesday next. let's hope for the best. conclusion-- your statement while taken at face value does make sense -- again my argument and my comment is that we should leave the decision making to those people closest to the scene and not disarray ourselves by different points of view. we have to stay united specially when war and peace and life and death are the outcome. hope it helps. ps. I speak on my record of some 10 p.cent best answers.

I personally think that at this poin t it really doesn't matter. If the terrorists want to wreck more havoc on American or its allies land it's in Gods hands. The other part of the question is: are 20,000 more casualties worth the war on terror? Or the terrorists are in a position to do what they like- whether you're on their land or not? Bring the troops home.

I agree with you. We will never be able to bring them peace over there. Osama Bin Laden was interviewed by John Miller, an american journalist that it was the american military presence on the Arabian Peninsula that was driving him crazy and that he intended to do something about it. He did just that in 2001. We are never going to be rid of terrorists. There is always going to be people in other countries who are going to condem us for our "freedoms". We should pull our troops out of Iraq because that fight was between Bush Sr. and Saddam. Jr. was just tring to make daddy proud while he is in office. Thank you and GOD bless.

We need to secure Iraq before we leave, and we are expending most of our manpower on training the Iraqi Army and Police. Training the Iraqis is very important, but we can't leave the people at the mercy of terrorists in the meantime.
