Try to contact his management agency or publicist if you dead end try to find an appraiser of antique or rare musical instruments. If the instrument is authenticated then you may have an easier time getting to his people for a letter of provenance. Have you tried an Internet search for the serial number of that strat? Have you contacted Fender to see if they have that info? Those are also easy avenues of inquiry you should try as well.

I am pretty sure he only played Gibsons.
For Example,
The Gibson Les Paul and the Gibson EDS-1275
{gibson started to custom make double necks in 1958}

Hes out there somewhere, he was recently at the House Of Blues because of Led Zepegain... Sorry I am not more of a help.. lol.

I know that Jimmy played a Telecaster for a while but it wasn't early in his career. You never know who really plays what....
