They are an unbalanced response to the perception of liberal media bias.
That is, some people suspect that many major media outlets have a liberal slant. However there are no major media outlets that deliberately set out to deliver the news from an decidedly liberal point of view. They don't have it in their rulebook, per se. Individual personalities have their own political beliefs, but in any serious news organization there is a concerted effort to remain impartial and loyal to the facts.
FOX news on the other hand actually has an agenda. It's in writing. Stories and the way they are presented go according to a formula. They are subject to scrutiny. Everything is deliberate, from picking an ugly, wimpish Colmes to represent the "liberal" side versus the boyishly handsome "Hannity" who gets twice the talk time, to the way they phrase every little sentence.
Notice on CNN or any other channel it is clear which programs are hard news and which are commentary. On FOX news it's all blended together like a sh*t smoothie. You can't tell where the news begins and the commentary ends because the commentary never really ends.
Regardless of your politics, FOX "news" has degraded the standards of journalism to a degree that is unprecedented in the history of television news and it is tragic.

Because it encourages the false beliefs of those that watch it, feeding them back what they want/expect to hear. They can then be secure in the knowledge that what they believe as a result of watching Hannity and O'Reilly is correct because it is balanced and fair. They even put a moderate on Hannity and Colmes, brand him a liberal, and poof, by using a different label for someone, you get balanced commentary! (They do the same on Fox News Radio, with shows like The Commentators where a local moderate independent is branded a "wacky liberal".)

Because they offer both sides I see liberals on Fox giving their perspective. The more important question is why with the mainstream media ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN, CNBC, PBS etc being a liberal propaganda machine why does Fox upset you so much.
You would think with that ratio you would be happy, which shows that no matter how good liberals have it they find something to ***** about.

Like most rightwingers, they are hypocrites.
Roger Ailes, a far rightwing propagandist, is the head of the organization. It is no secret that the network distributes rightwing talking points every morning that all of their talking heads (who, incidentally are obviously all rightwingers) are supposed to repeat as often as possible during the day. It is also no secret that those who do not conform to the rightwing ideology are quickly fired.
The claim to be "fair and balanced" is a cynical lie, designed to appeal to the brainwashed legions of rightwingers who only watch Fox News because cannot handle the truth.

No they are not right-wing. They just look right because you are so far to the left and you have forgotten what the truth sounds like.
What is really bothering you? Is it the fact that Fox News reaches more people than CNN, ABC, PBS, CBS and NBC. Is it that Fox is reaching a broader audience than the typicla Liberal outlets?
Rants are typified by a lack of evidence and a lack of ability to concider the facts.
So I ask you: Isn't this your question more evidence of a rant then of a valid question?

Out of all the networks and other news outlets, they ARE fair and balanced. They show both sides but also do not cater to the liberals like others do. Anyone who thinks other wise is in extreme denial.

There is no such thing as fair and balanced in media. You are for or against any topic. To be fair and balanced, you would have a network that no one would watch as you would be of a dissenting opinion to at least half of your viewership on one topic and then against the other half on the next.
Media for most of history has been pro Democrat in their views. I bring up Bush Senior as an example. During Desert Storm in 1991 the media blasted Bush for taking a 3 day holiday to wind down from being in office. Let us take Clinton during Bosnia. Major fighting going on and he takes a week vacation and the media blesses him as he has to get away and wind down and kiss his *** in every report.
Fox is born and takes a stance of being separate from the Dems leash. They then get branded as being pro republican and apart of the right wing. I watch Fox for my news whether it be local or national as I can not stand the bush bashing on all the other networks. Fox still does the bashing but not as much as they again are as close to fair and balanced as a media organization can be.

It's a means for Rupert Murdoch to push his own agenda. He was the one that invented the term "Flip-Flop" during the 2004 presidential election. Is that reporting the news or making the news?

I wouldn't have a problem with fox news if they just dropped the "fair and balanced" slogan and just came out and said "yes, we are right leaning," because even though I disagree with republicans I still think they should have a voice in the media. This is America after all.
