It was easy to see that he was a pawn of oil and industry, but expected him to be a Reagan clone, that was enough for dislike, but the real cold fear came when he announced that he had won the election at a time when it was already clear that, he had lost the majority of votes, was very unclear who had won Florida, and if he had won Florida at all it was because of massive vote fraud.

Right then I could see what the Onion published two months later as sarcasm that has become eerily prophetic .

"We as a people must stand united, banding together to tear this nation in two," Bush said. "Much work lies ahead of us: The gap between the rich and the poor may be wide, be there's much more widening left to do. We must squander our nation's hard-won budget surplus on tax breaks for the wealthiest 1.5 percent. And, on the foreign front, we must find an enemy and defeat it." The Onion January 17, 2001

My opinion of Bush has been running in cycles. When he announced his candidacy I thought "you've got to be kidding me". When Gore (who is infinitely more intelligent than Bush and you can't argue over that point, sorry!) won the popular vote and Bush got his brother Jeb to pull some strings to seat another Bush in the White House the venom started to really course through my veins.

During 9/11 I thought that what America needed to do to heal was to stand behind this President who showed some strength in our darkest hour. Then I saw the clip in that Michael Moore movie where he sat in that classroom and didn't do much of anything after hearing the news. I realized that the show of strength was nothing but a show. Bush is a swaggering chimpanzee and there is nothing you can do to change what and who he is in essence. I wish that we could depose this man and his co-horts and start afresh. He has made a mockery of what this country stands for. He has used our national tragedy for his own gains. In a democracy you do not go against popular opinion if you want to succeed. Bush will go down in history as the president who has failed his country.

For Bush in 2000; against Bush in 2004.

I rooted for him during the 2000 elections and started disliking him about 6 months ago when it was evident he was not a true conservative because he spends like a liberal and wages war like one too. Real conservatives don't expand the government and social programs and they fight wars to win them, not prolong them.

I completely agree, but I would say I start disliking him about 2 years ago.

When he said Jesus was his favorite philosopher in the Barbara Walters interview. Injecting religion into the 2000 campaign. Right then and there I knew he was a fake and was going to pimp "faith" to get votes. Especially Southern votes. And he and the RNC did exactly that. Later on he pimped patriotism and fear after 9/11 to keep votes. I've hated his guts ever since those moments.

I clocked him way back when.

He was clearly the worst choice that could have been made in the 2000 campaign of the 4 that had a real chance. THEN came the shamlection and the 1-20-01 Tragedy. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

i started to root for him as soon as he was elected, and stopped rooting for him when he decided to not change course in Iraq. His policies in Iraq have made me not approve of him. But I think Iraq is the right decision

also the port and border issues and how he treated them are really bad

I disliked him the first time I saw him smirk. I hated his father after Iran-Contra, and now that I've done some research I hate his grandfather for selling oil to the Nazi's while we were at war with them.
Oh, how do I hate them let me count the ways.
