do people just need something to do with they're hands when they talk?

I don't have a clue I would love to know,AS my hubby recon's that if he tied my hands behind my back i would be unable to talk.....

I know that when I talk I use my hand quite abit. I am Italian and have noticed that all of my family members do the same thing. So I do not know if it is cultural thing or something that we may learn when we are children by watching our parents talk with hand gestures. At least that is my opinion.

Everybody makes gestures when they speak, though they can be so small it goes unnoticed.
Gestures are part of non-verbal communication. They can indicate whether the person is lying, emotions... Even if he or she likes the person he's speaking with!
By exemple, if you find someone suspicious, it's mostly not about what they say, but about how they act.
There are a lot of manuals on how to understand these gestures.

for me personally, if i can't think of a word, I try to use my hands to help the other person "see" what I am talking about.
I have been told that if you tied my hands behind me, I couldn't talk.
I am in customer service, over the phone. My best friend sits across the room from me, and she says that I entertain her from across the room.

There's only one hand gesture I know people to use regularly during speech, and it's typically when they're angry.

I do it to emphasize what I am saying. I feel it gives what I am saying quality. If someone just stands there with no gestures at all, I get bored, want to fall asleep.

ppl do it becoz they want to express their piont and ppl think using hand gestures would help to get the point over!

some use their hands to talk with and some just move their hands around to make jestures.

Well i don't do that and i find it annoying, but a large part of communication is broadcast through body language.

Because they are so emtional in what they are speaking about that they express it through mouth and hands
