Do I really need a Firewall if I have A good Anti-Virus app.?

Never need, but strongly recommended.

Antivirus software is exactly that - helps block/remove/repair virus infected files etc.

A Firewall keeps would be instrusions out - even with AV software someone could access your system, change/delete data or whatever.

I'd recommend a firewall.

firewall and antivirus are not the same thing, an antivirus program will not let your files get infected with a virus, a firewall will not let anyone get into your computer data, or alter it, it restricts your network access, and other network users's access to your PC, so each one has a different role and a different way of doing it. if you are not connected to the net you wont need a firewall, but for security reasons you should have BOTH.

I feel a firewall is a must. You need one that will monitor both incoming and outgoing traffic. The windows firewall only monitors incoming. Imagine if a virus does get in or spyware. How are you going to stop it from sending information out to whoever. Please get a firewall. Comodo has one that works great right out of the box.

If you are using a router then the answer is NO..the router is a hardware firewall. If not then it couldn't hurt..even the one that comes with XP. But the Zone Alarm free firewall is better because it watches the inbound and outbound traffic. The XP one just watches for inbound traffic.

Yes. Te best things would be an external router with Network Address Translation. This keeps the outside world from being able to address your computer directly and will stop most hacks.
