Go ahead and get married by the Justice of the Peace.
then have a nice reception at a later date, or even the same day, that your children (hey, why not invite a bunch of people?) can attend. while you are at it, since you will be already married, you and your husband can "renew" your vows at the same time, that way, your children can see their mom get married. You can even have one of them "walk you down the aisle" when you renew your vows.
I cannot think of nothing sweeter than your children wanting to be there. You must have really great kids.
Good luck.

So take the kids. The Justice of the Peace officates the marriage cermony just like a priest or pastor would, without all the religious over-tones. You are allowed to have guests and attendants, and the whole smash ... or just a couple of witnesses to make the marriage legal. There is absolutely no reason why your children couldn't go to the Courthouse with you to watch the ceremony, or even participate in the ceremony. If you don't want your kids in the Courthouse, you can make arrangements and hire the Justice of the Peace to come out of the Courthouse to officiate the ceremony somewhere else -- the city park, your home, ect. You simply give him or her a small fee ($50 is what I did) in addition to the legal fees to pay them for their time.

Have a house wedding, or speak to a local church and have it there. There are many alternatives when it comes to getting married, and it is awesome tht your kids want to be a part of this.
