For example, I was watching this dating show and all the guy and girl could do throughout the whole date was argue about whether USC or UCLA was better. Sports rivalries are fun, no doubt, but isn't there a point where you must grow up and recognize that you will never ever be on the football team so what's the point? (I mean this girl was cute so I don't know what the guy was thinking screwing up the date like that...)

When Raider fans go to San Diego and are caught on film stabbing Charger fans, I think that's a little over the top.

easy easy answer. never. it never gets ridiculous. without rivalry it would take the fun out of conference and divisional and intercity and regional match-ups. imagine what baseball would be like if it weren't for the red sox and yankees rivalry. or what the 2000 world series between the yankees and the mets would have been without the intercity rivalry. or less we would have cared about seeing michigan and ohio state tee off the other month. Rivalry brings more to the playing field and it makes things a lot more interesting.

In soccer when fanatical fans rave the field riot and kill each other. Too much passion can be a bad thing.
