Steven started very young with an 8mm camera and making films. He progressed through the ranks and figured out a way to bluff himself onto the paramount lot, where his talent was noticed.
It's not too late, but I would get yourself into a film school to at least get the grasp on what is required of you to be a director

Steven Spielberg is ONE of the best directors in the world - there are several. First you need talent, but you also need to know a great deal of film history, so study that. Study the great films of all time and see what makes them great. Then study some really bad movies and see what makes them bad so you can avoid the same mistakes. Then make a movie, and another, and another. Spielberg didn't start out with anything spectacular - but he started.
