This question arise many times before, but no one can answer this hard question. You have to ask GOD whether he might be able to answer your question.

Geez, no little questions from you, are there? No one knows the answer for certain (though many are certain of their beliefs on this matter). All the religions of the world have a creation story of one sort or another, and they run the gamut -- from a god who intentionally creates everything from nothing, to gods who split off parts of themselves to create things, to deities who accidentally set everything in motion. Science also has several theories for the creation of the universe, including the Big Bang Theory (the most popular and recognizable theory, in which the universe popped into being as an unimaginably dense singularity which exploded outwards and eventually coalesced into what you see today), a cyclical model in which there are many "Little Bangs," with each universe collapsing in upon itself and exploding outwards again (recently discredited due to observations that the expansion of the visible universe is actually accelerating), to a more constant state of static order in which the universe simply _IS_, and there was no beginning or end. At this point, you can take your pick; it's a question I doubt anyone will ever answer to the satisfaction of sentient beings everywhere.

The mechanics of creation is impossible for mankind to describe, because "something" had to be formed from nothing. There is one aspect of creation that I am able to define somewhat that may be of interest to you. It is the duration of the time it takes to create our universe.

There is a trilogy in physics that will likely become more and more inspected as the years go by. The reason for this is that it describes the basis of our existence, and explains to what degree we exist time-wise in relation to the rest of creation.

E = mc2, m = E/c2, and c2 = E/m is the trilogy. The only factor in the trilogy that does not change is that of the "c2" one. This value is both that of a particular speed, and has a particular energy value at the same time - apparently the value of "h". Because it is the basis of all forms of energy and mass, (mankind, as all other mass being composed of physical time) mass duration becomes the reason why present time is able to become folded into becoming the past. Because our universe is created of physical time, having all its limitations, it had to be created in the time limitation of which it was formed. Our universe was instantly created. There was no time lapse where part was slowly being added to part. What does not exist in our universe, having the particular time value of all else, does not exist to us.

The universe was created by the big bang according to science. According to the scriptures it was God. Or God must have started the big bang.

Scripture says God SPOKE all things into existence with His Word:
" By the Word of the Lord were the heavens created, and all the host by the breath of His mouth. For HE SPAKE AND IT WAS DONE; HE COMMANDED AND IT STOOD FAST". (psalm 33:9)

There is no 100% surity on any answer to this in the realm of science. For that you have to go to the section on religion.

No, I don't think anyone can actually answer that question truly; it is all speculation.
