How did the outcome of the war affect the different social groups in the country?

The North won, thus making slavery illegal and letting all people of color seem somewhat equal to whites. But it took roughly another 100 years before people of color had 100% equality, or atleast in writing they did, in practice it's still a different story.

I agree with the other respondents, but I would also add that there were a lot of technological developments that came about as part of the war (particularly with weapons technology, but also with things like railroads), which was kind of the lead up to the Industrial Revolution in the USA. Also, with the end of the Civil War, the government could focus on westward expansion and refocusing militarily on the "Indian problem", which in terms of impacts on social groups, meant the end of a lot of Native American tribes.

Also, a lot of U.S. Presidents served in the Civil War (like Grant, McKinley, Hayes, etc.), and their experiences impacted the country for many years to come.

XIV-Legal protection to all citizens

XV-Ended restrictions of voting by colored people.

Created labor shortages in the south...
emancipated the slaves.
