I work in a drug rehab and as part of there programme they have eveing group, we split them up into 2 groups and 1 group is for it and the other against it, what ever topic we are discussing.

How about thes topics:

- it's really important to set yourself tough goals to work towards
- being happy is more important than having money
- it's always better to give something than to get something
- rule your life by your heart or your head?
- watching the sea is more relaxing than walking in the mountains

This is a departure from your normal format but is often good fun for the particiants.

A Balloon debate. Each person selects a character and then explains why they should not be ejected from the balloon -(which is sinking). Characters do not even have to be historical or real. After each person has had their time slot for their pitch, there is a vote -most points wins.

For best results it may be best to give the participants a bit of notice, but this is not of course essential.

1) How can we each help to save the planet.

2) How can we generate electricity using wind, water and sunshine?

3) What simple things can we do in our home that will help save electricity?

4) Name ways you could make money from the soil and plant growth in your garden?
