Yes, PC just refers to an ordinary computer as used at home or in a small office.

PC stands for Personal Computer. In the early 1980s, the IBM company that dominated the computer market for businesses sold its first small computers for use on office desks and at home for $2000 or so. It was revolutionary at the time. 'Personal Computer' was to distinguish it from huge mainframe computers that companies kept in their basements. See link for picture and article.

Older tech people use the term more than young people.

In can be used for any type of computer, but usually refers to Microsoft Windows computers with Intel/AMD Pentium processors, rather than Apple computers, Linux machines, etc.

PC stands for personal computer.

Well, a Mac is a personal computer, too, but they have been using PC to stand also for a personal computer that is not a Mac. That's because Mac uses hardware parts and software that are exclusive to the Apple company. PC's use Intel and also parts compatible with Intel or are "open" standards. And they use Windows software. And also can use Linux stuff.

That's why you may have seen those ads for Mac that have those two guys, and one says, "Hello, I'm a Mac." And the other says, "Hello, I'm a PC."

PC stands for personal computer. However, in common terminology it's usually used to describe a computer running on a Windows-based platform, as opposed to an Apple or some other alternative.

Well you were half right. It is your computer. Although it means personal computer it is specifically referring to the x86 line of computers that was started by IBM a "long" (in computer years) time ago. In other words, a non mac machine.
