I got a sketch kit at Michaels yesterday and it has a paper stump in it.. what do I use it for? there are no directions or anything..

You can blend graphite (pencil lead) on paper with it by smearing the graphite around with your stump. Just rub it medium pressure over the area where you have already put down your pencil marks. You'll see the graphite smear. The degree of dark to light is called shading, and you can use this technique of shading to make a drawn object look 3 Dimensional. Try filling a circle in with shading from light to dark, making it look like a round ball.
