It could be to do with your message centre number not being typed in properly - make sure you have a + and 44 before the rest of the number begins

You can usually sort this through the "settings" option in the menu of your phone, or through the "messages" option

If the whole number is missing - just call up vodafone, they'll be able to get to the root of the problem, and if it is to do with the centre number, they can tell you what it is :)

In response to your added note: Phone vodafone, they can give you a step by step guide which is suited to your phone, I'm not familiar with the phone.

Try checking to see if you a have a service center number on your phone.
This can be found under the sms setting like sometimes called profile. If you don't have one you can't send any message because you need the message to be sent via a service center (so they can route it to the place you want it to go to). You can either find another person who has a vodafone and copy their number or phone up Vodafone to get the number.
Hope this helps

As Linz said, your SMS sevice centre number is either incorrect or missing from the SMS settings on your handset and this is why the phone is unable to send the SMS (it needs to send the SMS to the service centre which in turn forwards the SMS on to the recipient network for the mobile number you are sending to). Contact your network provider and they will supply you with the correct SMS service number and they should also be able to tell where in your handset settings to locate and correct this.

This may sound stupid but have you tried switching phone off leaving it for 5 mins then switcing it back on. Works for me with my Motorola when texts are 'sticking' on the green arrow.

Sounds like the phone is broke. Did it get wet?
Take it back to the cell service store and see if they can help. Most Motorola's have warranties.

your text messaging service number is probably messed up. you need to go to your provider so they can reset it and enter the right number.
