no, he's not deranged. I know a guy who loves his cat that much too. I do think it's strange but not deranged. He curls up with his cat to watch movies and stuff, but that's not beasteality.
Do you mean he enjoys cuddling the cat more than you enjoy cuddling the cat, or he prefers the cat instead of you?
If it's the latter, then you might want to question the strength of your relationship overall.

I really feel that there is no good reason to worry at this point in the story. However, if he starts to dig up your garden and sh/t in it. I would have him humanely removed without delay !
