There's one half of the country who is defending God and saying we were built on Christian fundamentals yet they aren't actually showing us how that works. There is the other half who says that it doesn't matter what fundamentals we were built on, we can do this without God, yet they're not showing us how that works either. So basically, we have this age-old battle of "God vs No God" and neither side is fighting it particularly well.
And while we are so busy fighting this battle (poorly), and neglecting (on either side) to show action-proof of a functioning society, we are neglecting the unity, love and support that both sides truly want. I think we have an understanding of these things, but not an inheritance of them. We understand, practically, what it means to be kind, helpful, and uplifting to one another but we are too busy with our debates to put the good things into practice.
And America, by the way, does have a god... unfortunately, I think America is America's god. And maybe that's all I had to say to answer this question.

You mean like the love and support we gave to Iran after the earthquake? You mean like the love and support we showed after the sunami? Or the love and support and unity of Americans for our citizens after Katrina? Forget the government. Look at the Americans like in Houston Tx who gave time, food. jobs to those in need from New Orleans. The people up in,I believe Montana or one of the Dakotas (I forget which)that pulled together and adopted a family to show their love. Or the men in central PA who gave of their time to get together needed items and drove too New Orleans to help those in need. Or the truly great Americans who are trying to do some positive things in Iraq to actually help the citizens of Iraq. Again forget the overall of the war and focus on the Americans who have a heart and really are trying to help. Do positive things. Or the countless dollars we as a government, give to 3rd world nations to help them in time of need. I could go on and on and on about the love, unity and support that goes on in this country for our people by our people. And the unity, love and support that our American citizens show for other people of the world.
Do you know that we have charitable organizations that are always looking for donations of money, gifts, and time to help people of all walks of life in their time of need. We don't do it for a pat on the back . We do it out of compassion. We do it to unite, for love, and support of others.
If you are an American , quit bitching and get up and do something constructive. If you not an american. Quit watching the news. They make no effort to share with you the truely great things that make this country of America so wonderful. And you know what. I bet you could go to any country on this planet and find people who are showing unity, love and support. But you have to look for the good to see it. You can be part of the solution or part of the problem. Your free to chose either,
Next time there is a catastrophic event in your town, city or country. Look around closely., I would be willing to bet there is an American close by to help. If we are not there in person. We will be sending money or supplies just because you are in need. Even if you hate us. We will be there.

It doesn't. Its just that dysfunction often gets more publicity. Its may also be that Americans are open and objective about whatever weaknesses exist in their culture while many other cultures are not.

They're to overwhelmed right now with fear for any of that. Pretty hard to have a romantic walk with your sweet heart in Central Park with Black hawk's flying over head.

I know the answer everyone will shout from the rooftops on this one. MONEY and COMMERCIALISM!! No, it's that art does NOT imitate life. Life imitates ART. And we are all being mass-fed right under our entertained, relaxed noses. Spoon fed!! Dish it up. "I'm bored. Oh that should be good!!" Hello??

When the minds are filled with materialistic satisfactions and sensuous pleasures , it results in selfishness, rudeness, declination of human/moral values etc.

i might want to judge his attitude to be waving a red cape in the front of those human beings and the terrorists they help. what is going to be unhappy is that Obama and company are waiting to blame the subsequent terrorist attack on the "massive accurate wing conspiracy" and on protection rigidity vets.
