You can "do" whatever you want - you're an adult. The reality comes in what you already know - that as a receptionist you obvioulsy do not earn enough to support yourself independently - is that what you want for the rest of your life?
A college education may open doors for you that will take you to a career that will allow you to be independent. Or you may decide that you are happier working like a dog at two jobs and just making ends meet - the choice is yours.

Forget what your parents and friends have told you. Is college what you want to do? Why or why not?
If college is not something that will help you support yourself later and you need to work right now, then you should focus on work instead of school. Consider taking limited courses (10-20 hours per semester) while you work a job to support yourself. That way, you're still working toward a goal.
If you want to drop out entirely, then you'd better be sure that you're going to be working a job that will be better than the one you'd have been likely to get with a diploma. I know some people who dropped out of college and they make more money than I do with my degree.
But money is not the only factor. While it's true that you should be able to support yourself, there's also the happiness factor. Do you hate school because it's hard, or do you genuinely know that it isn't for you? Would you be happier working a job instead? What about in five years? Will you have wished that you'd gotten your diploma?
You have some tough questions to ask yourself about your future. Think long and hard, considering all possibilities, before you make a decision. I wish you luck.

Stay in college. Learn everything you can and take advantage of this opportunity because there are so many people I know that wish they could have had that opportunity. Everyone knows it will be easier for you in the end. Your parents only wants what is best for you. Hang in there because in the end you will be the one who benefits in the long run. An easier life without having to work 2 jobs. Good Luck

Whats better cry today and laugh tomorrow, or cry the rest of your life and maybe catch a look at people who hated collage for 4 years and listen to them take about the things that a collage education has brought them, better jobs, homes, cars, boats, vacations, savings for retirement, savings for their children not to mention paying for their children's weddings. The world is full of idiots. If you were accepted in collage, you are smart. If you stay and better yourself in a discipline you are wise. You do not understand the word hate, if you hate it today you will regret it many years from now.

Either tough it out and stay in school for a few years, or that second job is gonna be a lifelong commitment, its very tough to make a living without an education

well you have the choice. Stay in school, stay home a while longer and get a better paying job and possibly a career.
Or you can get 2-3 jobs, work your butt off with multiple jobs just to pay rent and bills for the rest of your life.
Hmm...

Stay in school, you may never end up going back and that isnt a good idea. Could you afford a roomate living with you, split costs? That might be the best idea.

Think of it this way. 5 years from now where would you be if you stayed in school or if you took another job and dropped out?
College is an investment in your future. Think long term.

First of all, why are you doing what everyone else wants you to do? Why are you so eager to please everyone else but yourself. If you are not ready to go back to school then don't. I say drop out of school and get that second job that you wanted so you can be on your own. You need to figure out what is right for you, nobody else can figure that out for you. When you are ready to to back to school (if you are ready) then you will. Personally for me, I dropped out of college because I wasn't ready. yes my mom was disapointed, but it was not her life. It is mine. So far, I have been out of college for more than 10 years, and I just started going back because I am now ready. If you are not happy, you need to figure out what is making you unhappy and change that. stop listening to other people's opinions and stop letting their thoughs and opinions run your life. If you want to be happy then you need to start by listening to you and your needs.
