how likely is it that a pregnancy test will show up positive before a missed period?

If the test is very sensitive, it might be able to detect pregnancy two days before your period is due. Any time before this and your body won;t be making enough Hcg (pregnancy hormone) for any test to detect, sensitive or not!

Having done an early test a few weeks ago myself I can tell you that only about 50 percent of women who WERE pregnant got a positive result before thier period was due....I was obviously not in that 50 percent because I did 2 early tests and both came back negative. About a week after my missed period I did two more and they were both very clear to read-positive. I know how much us girlies like to know ASAP but unless you are very very lucky to have high levels of the pregnancy hormone HGC then its unlikely that you will get an accurate reading. If you do test early though Id suggest you use first morning urine as its been storing all night without being diluted by fluids we drink during the day. Goodluck, hope you get the result you want xx

Not very. If you get an early detection test, they are 56% reliable if used 4 days before your missed period. i.e. only 56% of women who are pregnant will get a positive result. They then get gradually more accurate until the day of the missed period when they are 99% accurate.
I used one on the day of my missed period and it was negative. I didn't get a positive until a few days later.

I think the most accurate test can tell 3 days before a missed period but I don't think it can be accurate much before then

if you read the box it gives you percentages, i believe starting at 5 days before your period is due it's like 80 percent and then doubles with each day. It's best to just wait til the first day of your missed period though.

Its possible, depending on the sensitivity of the test. youre better off waiting till youre late though as the hormone the test is checking for will be stronger then.

some are very accurate. you're going to have to check the accuracy of the pregnancy test itself.
