You need to turn the application in with the owner/manager not a clerk. Secondly when you meet this person, stick out your hand and shake theirs, look them straight in the eye and introduce yourself with confidence. Tell them you want to work for them. You must do something personal to set yourself apart from the stack of applications they have on thier desk. Next you follow up on a weekly basis. Call or stop by to see if they have a position open yet. Trust me, after a couple of weeks of doing this with 10 places, you will have a job.

Are you a student? Talk with your school's counseling office about any job leads from local employers. It's not enough to just fill out an application and leave... follow up on the applications, ask for an interview, and think like you have the job. Self confidence is very important!!!

Follow up with the employers with whom you filed your applications.

Perhaps you are shooting too high. Start with a blah office job, McDonald's, or Wal-Mart.
