it's 'fleas', btw. it's very hard to get rid of them. now is a good time of year for your battle, though. they slow down a lot when it's cold. you'll have to use flea poison on your pets after thoroughly bathing them. also, poison under your house if you can. they get under there and make a nice life for themselves. you'll have to launder or burn your pets' bedding also. you'll have to do all of this on the same day or they'll have a chance to move and hide before you can get them. normal laundering should kill the adult fleas but not sure about the eggs. once all this is done, get a flea collar for your pets to keep the fleas at bay. over the next few weeks, you may have to repeat this to get the next crop that is now unhatched. your neighbors may be part of your problem. if you do all this and they have pets with fleas, they'll be back. see if you can get your neighbors to cooperate with you. good luck

A long time ago I worked for a vet. His remedy was real simple:

1. Get an empty coffee can.
2. Puncture holes in the lid (like a salt shaker).
3. Put a mixture of 1 part Multeem Borax (you'll find this in the laundry section of your grocery store) and 1 part salt.
4. Sprinkle on carpet AFTER vacuuming.
5. Vacuum daily and be sure to empty the bag/canister daily and repeat process.

The borax will cause the fleas to "blow up". Vacuuming simply removes the dead carcasses and replaces the solution back in the carpet until all are dead.

I used this remedy when we found a stray cat who was loaded with fleas. Within a week - after treating the cat and using this method on the carpet, the fleas were gone for good. Never had to use a professional.

try showering! or u can train them and make lots of cash with flee circus! oh yeah, anybody that blames the pet is mislead, if u have a pet u don't have problem with flees, the pet does, ask a vet, if u have a pet the flees r on it ,u won't even see them, hey maybe let the nieghbours dog come in and take them over to there!

Bathe and spot your spot.
Vacuum daily and throw the bag away daily. Expensive but cheaper than an exterminator.
Boil some oranges peels and use the water to spray your carpet, upholstery and pet daily.
Try the Borax and salt idea (I'm trying that one next summer)

Realize the eggs are in your upholstery and carpet. These surfaces must be vacuumed daily. If you keep the bag in the vacuum you will continue to have re-infestations.
Buy your pet spotter at the vet, the grocery store brands are not effective and can be dangerous.

The little suckers are tough to do. You have to do the pets the house and the yard all at once. You're best bet is to hire a pro to do it right. To keep them from coming back you have to either NEVER let your pet outside or get rid of it.

fleas in your house? use a bug bomb, found at hardware stores. You have to leave the house for a few hours and they are really stinky, but they work pretty good. Fleas in your laundry, wash with hot water and dry clothes on high temperature.
