I have an 8 day cuckoo clock and it has been working fine for quite some time (it was passed down to me, it is know around 40 years old). I have recently noticed that after I wind it and start it again it will stop just a few hours after I wound it. I know it didn't pull the weights too high because there are rings stopping that. Is this anything I can fix myself?

Probably not - you most likely have a damaged or dirty weight and that is a job for a pro. Take it to a clock shop and get a quote then if possible have it fixed and get a list of maintenance tips to keep it running. Good Luck!

WD-40 and duct tape will fix just about anything except a broken heart. If it needs to move, spray wd-40 on it, if it doesn't need to move use duct tape. Just spray the works with WD-40 but be careful not to get it on the wood as this will darken and stain the wood. May your cookoo never flies over the nest.
