This problem is most often caused by file sharing and is remarkably easy to resolve once you know the trick.
Your computer uses the router to resolve DNS (or Domain Name Service) requests. File sharing programs make a LOT of requests and some routers just can't handle the load.
The trick is to set the DNS servers to your service provider so that the requests are not processed by your router.
Your service provider should have provided details of the DNS addresses. If not, your router should show them on its configuration page.
To set the DNS addresses (there are usually 2) on your computer;
Open Control Panel
Open Network Connections
Bring up the properties of Local Area Connection (or whichever port connects to your router)
Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Click on Properties
Click on Use the following DNS server addresses.
Enter the two DNS addresses of your ISP.
Reboot the router.
You should find that your router runs a lot more reliably from now on.
Good luck and happy computing!

First thing I suggest is moving it the (router) to another location - it doesn't have to be far but that's easy just a foot or two. Next make sure there are no wireless telephones near the router or the computer - they use the same frequency range and can interfere with the wi-fi router. And of course go to the settings and check them. You may want to enable WPA in the router and computer---follow the instructions carefully, it is easy but do not loose the key word (password) ever. That may stop interference from an outside source - like a neighbours telephones or shortwave walkie talkie.
If that doesn't work call/write Belkin support.

The problem is likely to be on the line.
Have you recently changed to the "up to 8Mbps" service? If so, put up with the disconnections for a week or two and it will settle down.
If not, check all your extension sockets aren't causing problems, by disconnecting them from you BT master socket (if you have the new-type master socket, unscrew the lower part of the front face and slide off. Plug your router (via a filter) into the inside socket and try that. If that works, the problem is with the wiring in your home.
I've had some problems with my service, and with my internal wiring, but my Belkin router has so-far been reliable (had it about a year, hasn't disconnected itself for about 3 months).

Belkins are know to have problems. Look at your manual and find out how to do updates for your Belkin. If there are patches and fixes for it, it may fix the problem. Also, when you use the second computer, check for the IP Address and make sure it is not the same as the other. To do this, go into command prompt (dos mode) and type ipconfig, look for the ip address and write it down, do the same for the second pc, if they are the same, you need to change them. I can give you more details, but first check for update (firmware) for your router.

i dont think it has anything to do with the router because i have a friend who had the same problem ie losing connection all the time, until i told him it was probably his phone junction where he plugged the filter in, i told him to take the front casing off his junction box and plug the filter in directly, hey presto his connection has not gone off in 2 months, his junction box was older than 5yrs so therefore had had a lot of use plugging in and plugging so like everything else it suffered from wear n tear, try it got nothing to lose.

there is a setting on the graphical user interface of the Belkin router that would disconnect automatically after a period of time, make sure that option is not checked.
