The attack of the Olympic athletes in 1972. Their nationality made no difference, it was the fact that all countries come together in peace to compete. They even competed during Hitler's time, so to bring violence was the loss of "innocence" to the Olympics.

I agree the Marshall loss was great to their university.

TigerFan, who ever said Seau was done? He'll be back.

As for the question, '72 Olympics were the worst. Marshall, Evansville, the Oklahoma State basketball crash, all of those were bad, but they were accidents. Munich was wrought by Man on Man, and for that reason, made it horrible. Especially since it occured during a time when the world is supposed to unite and be peaceful.

Edit: TigerFan, why do you have to call me a jackass? Did I insult you? No, I didn't think so. I simply said that Junior will be back.

There are many sudden tragedies in sports such as the plane crashes involving Marshall, U of Evansville but the one that was the worst was watching on television as the Israeli athletes were being murdered...a very helpless feeling in which I hope never repeats itself.

The crash of the plane for the Evansville basketball team is at least comparable for American sports.

The killing of the Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics, 1972.

The Junior Seau injury this year was pretty tragic. It was his last season to play and he had a wonderful career. Many Pro Bowl appearances. This season he goes for a low tackle and breaks his forearm in half, literally. I watched it live on t.v. and it was disgusting. I felt sorry for him. To end his wonderful football career in this fashion did not represent him very well. I still think he is one of the best defensive backs of all-time.

And nevermind that jackass below me who said he's coming back because he is not. Watch the video.
