Sound deadening panels?

Question

I have a 2002 GMC Envoy and wondered if adding these to my doors and around the engine would actually (i.e. siginificantly) reduce noise from outside the vehicle.

yes...I used them on the floor and on firewall of my SS396 chevelle.. it stopped heat and noise

Well, the answer to this is yes. I don't think you should add them to the engine compartment cause this can also add to the heat on the engine.Most manufacturers take into account the engine compartment temp to the set up of the automatic cooling fans.You don't want to mess this up cause you could risk dealing with upping the engine running temp, especially in warmer weather with the a/c on.
Just add them to the inside of the door panels and if you maybe pull the carpet back and add them to the upward area of the floor pans by the firewall it should reduce the noise from the wheels and engine being heard in the cab area.
3M makes good sound deadner panels with a peel off adhesive back and can be cut to size pretty easy.

I used to own a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. i used to get alot of road and wind noise. I can tell you that much of the noise is due to the design of the front driver and passenger doors.

No amount of sound deadening is going to help with that problem.
No matter what you do outside of having a body shop completely redesign the doors and how they seal.

Just do like I did and turn the radio up while you drive.

yes ,,this actually works well,i added some to my, s-10,,because there noisy anyway..and it made a noticeable difference in the outside noises i hear,,i think it was worth doing to it,,i did the doors and the floor in it,,and now i can hear the radio real good without having to turn it way up,,and the outside noise now,is way down,but its worth doing,,you,ll notice a big difference in it once its all done,,good luck hope this help,s.
