Vietnam mostly uses the asian circle plugs "Type C". You find many combination plugs that will accept the circle types as well as the two pronged flat American plug. In some places you may find the big three-pronged square British plug.

From a voltage standpoint it will almost universally be 50hz and 220 volts. The easiest thing to do is buy electronics that have auto-switching power supplies. Otherwise, if you're coming from a country like the US that has 60 Hz 120V power sources you'll need a transformer.

Radio Shack sells converter from 110v to 220v. VN uses 220v, 2 prongs, 3 prongs are available every where. If you need to buy a converter in VN, it's so much cheaper than Radio Shack.
