I'm not sure which to get. I've been told that acoustic is "easier" to play. I believe it would be cheaper (and price is a factor). I listen to rock mostly and that is what i would play. originally i thought "electric no question" but i really started listening to my favorite songs and a lot have acoustic in them instead of electric (or at least thats what it sounds like). Now i can't really decide which would be best. oh one more thing. I wouldn't be performing or at least not often. this is mostly just when i'm hanging out with my friends that kind of thing. I would definitely just be a hobby guitar player.

In my opinion, I like acoustic better. But electric is nice too. Since price is a factor, start with acoustic or if you want to really play electric save your money. It'll be worth the wait.

if you are just learning to play, usually the acoustic is the way to go because it will make your fingers stronger, then as you progress I would get an electric, but honestly it doesn't matter that much, mainly just depends on the sound that you want to have

if its just a hobby i would go with the acoustic. i like the sound better and you dont have to hook it up to an amp or anything you can just hang out and play

It does not matter. CHEAP is the factor you need to consider. Guitars are expensive. Get one that you won't pay a fortune for and can help you know if you really want to pursue it further. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/?src=00633

Look around here. They have real good deal and free shipping on purchases over $100. Good luck.
