I heard that some people are born with a genetic mutation called Alexandria's Genesis that causes their eyes to change from blue to a darker shade of purple as they grow older. I have no idea if this is a real medical condition or not because many of the websites I've looked up don't appear to be very trustworthy. All I want to know is if people really can be born with purple colored eyes or if its just another urban legend, and when I say purple, I don't mean they look violet due to refracted light or something like that, I mean real, honest to goodness purple hued eyes a person can actually be born with. If so, where can I find a refutable website where I can look up legitimate information on the subject?

All eyes are blue. some people make pigment that turns their eyes green, hazel or brown. some blues are dark that look violet (think elizabeth taylor). Alexandria's Genesis is pretend. Lots of things can change your eye color though. Try looking on the american academy of ophthalmology's website. www.aao.org

Yes, it's a variation of blue eyes. The way light reflects and enters the eye makes them appear violet. Liv Tyler has violet eyes. It's very rare, though.
