We as Homo-Sapiens are monogamous by nature. There will be those that disagree with that statement, but the majority are. We tend to feel guilty when we betray "the one", even if we do it before we have met them. This is perfectly natural and would be more pronounced if it weren't for all the blatant displays of sex and sexuality around us nearly 24/7 these days.

The "why" would depend on your belief system and your relationship with your partner. You could feel guilt because your religion says to wait until marriage. You could feel guilt because it's not a real relationship but instead it was a one-night stand. You could feel guilt if you're cheatng on someone with the person you just had sex with. You could feel guilt if you just don't care that much about the person but did it anyway. You could feel guilt if you're too young (a teen) and not ready for a physical relationship. There are thousands of "coulds." It depends on your emotional/life situation at the time.

Do you know what the word fornication means? It means any sex outside of marriage, so naturally when you have sex outside of marriage, adult or not, you should experience guilt if you are trying to live a life in line with Biblical principles.

If both parties have religious beliefs preventing them from having sex... then naturally there would be some guilt.
